Otterbein University has been accepted for membership in the National Institute for Technology and Liberal Education. NITLE is the premier higher education organization dedicated to exploring the intersections of technological advances and advances in liberal education.
Membership means that any faculty member or staff can sign up for the NITLE News, can join one of a number of exciting working listservs, can participate in the NITLE Webinars and seminars and can collaborate with colleagues from across the United States on exciting projects.
How might you get started?
NITLE News - which keeps people on Network campuses informed of NITLE activities. Here is the link to the subscription form. It only takes a minute or so to get on the list. NITLE News
LISTSERV page - You can register to receive regular emails from their peers. These are somewhat more specialized, and they involve conversations between faculty, school staff and NITLE staff. Otterbein members are free to post or answer any queries. Here is the link to our listserv page: NITLE Listserve link
Prediction Markets - I’m sure there are faculty and staff who hold strong opinions about the future of higher education. NITLE likes to tap into that kind of thinking with their Prediction Markets. Please feel free to “play the markets” and encourage others to do so, click on the title link.
We use these, in part, when Dr. Bryan Alexander writes his monthly Future Trends newsletter, which you can receive each month. Of course, CAN-SPAM regulations also require you to sign up for that newsletter. I encourage you to do this.
Libraries - Also, NITLE is developing a series on transforming libraries. We recently received notice that this initiative will be funded by the Mellon Foundation, and our Library Fellow, Dr. Sean Andrews, is preparing that series for members right now. When the series is ready to launch, NITLE will let us know more of the specifics.
Benefits of Membership page - Finally, you may want to check out our updated “Benefits of Membership” page, which shows some of the more tangible benefits of NITLE.
