The Department of History and Political Science gives students a solid grounding in the
academic study of history, politics, government, law, public
administration and global relations. The Department is committed to
promoting students’ understanding of the richness and diversity of human
experience in its historical and global contexts. By equipping students
with critical thinking, writing, and communication skills, all fields
of study prepare students for graduate training, careers and lifelong
learning in our diverse world.
Majors and Minors

Faculty
The
Department currently has six full-time historians and three full-time
political scientists. As teacher-scholars, we value undergraduate
education in a liberal arts context and are actively engaged in
scholarship in our fields. For the faculty’s research and teaching

Faculty members also contribute to the University’s interdisciplinary programs, including Integrative Studies and the Senior Year Experience, as well as the Honors, and Women’s Studies programs.
