Ohio Undergraduate Psychology Research Conference
The 26th Annual Ohio Undergraduate Psychology Research Conference (OUPRC) will be held at Otterbein University in Westerville, OH on Saturday, April 21st, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. (registration begins 8:00 a.m.).
The OUPRC is sponsored by a consortium of Ohio colleges and universities and provides undergraduate psychology majors with the opportunity to present original, student-generated research to other students and faculty. Student paper submissions from member and nonmember institutions from in or out of state are welcomed.
Information for Presenters and Conference Attendees
- All presentations will take place in the Shear-McFadden Science Hall (#47 on the campus map).
- All presentations are 10 minutes in length, with 2-3 minutes for questions following.
- PCs and LCD projectors are available in every room. Please bring your presentation on a USB “thumb” drive to the room before your session (during registration, lunch, or between sessions) so that it can be loaded on the session computer. Mac users: we do not have Keynote software and recommend all presentations be in PowerPoint or compatible format.
- Conference attendees may park in any lot on campus. Early arrivals should find ample parking in Lot O, however, due to an admissions event on the same day, later arrivals will find the most available spaces in Lots K, L, S, and R. These lots are a short (5-7 minute) walk down Center Street from the Science building (see campus map).

"Context, Lies, and Stereotypes: Studying Gender Differences in Sexuality"

After graduating from Wake Forest University, Terri Fisher earned her Ph.D. in experimental/developmental psychology from the University of Georgia. She joined the faculty of The Ohio State University at Mansfield in 1982. Dr. Fisher has conducted research on various aspects of sexual behavior and gender issues and has been the recipient of several research awards for this work. She is currently concentrating her research on gender and personality differences in various aspects of sexual behavior. Dr. Fisher is also the co-editor of three books: Handbook of Sexuality-Related Measures (Routledge, 2011), Speaking of Sexuality: Interdisciplinary Readings (Oxford University Press, 2010), and Current Directions in Human Sexuality and Intimate Relationships (Pearson, 2010). Fisher is active in various professional and community organizations and is a Past-President of the Midcontinent Region of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS), a SSSS Fellow, and a Consulting Editor for The Journal of Sex Research. She teaches Adolescence, Psychology of Women, and Psychology of Human Sexuality.
Undergraduates
Undergraduate students may submit papers using quantitative or qualitative methods.
All papers are presented orally. Students are given 10 minutes for presentation, followed by a 2-3 minute Q & A. Equipment for PowerPoint presentations is available in every room.
Faculty
The OUPRC is funded via a consortium of colleges and universities. Members agree to support the consortium through annual dues and, if possible, to host the conference on a rotating basis. Dues for 2011-2012 are $150.00. Administration of the consortium funds is done by the conference originator, John Carroll University. Please click here to download an application for membership.
Conference History
The conference was initiated by John Carroll University in 1987 and is traditionally held around mid-April. Host sites are selected on a rotating basis from member institutions. Participation in the conference by students from non-member institutions is welcomed.
