Curriculum and Production
The Dance Minor offers students the opportunity to continue advanced level training throughout their college careers, while pursuing their chosen major.
Dance classes are structured to allow students to dance every day. We offer instruction in ballet, tap, modern, jazz, and musical theatre. Students are placed in the appropriate level based on experience and technique within each discipline.
Two levels of Dance History, as well as two choreography classes, are required for the Dance Minor. All dance minors are encouraged to choreograph pieces for dance workshops and required to audition for the annual dance concert. All dance classes are taught by our experienced dance faculty team, many of whom operate their own studios or teach at Ballet Met. Students are encouraged audition for dance roles in Departmental productions.
After receiving on offer of admission, students interested in applying for a Minor in Dance must schedule an audition. Admission to the program is by invitation only.
Talent awards are available to those admitted, ranging from $500 to $2,000 per year. All students who audition, whether on campus or online, will be considered for talent awards.
To arrange for an audition, contact Matt Wolfe via email, or call 614-823-1657. You will receive an electronic confirmation of your appointment and more detailed information about the dance audition and interview.
Auditions will be held on Tuesdays from 8am - 10:30am throughout January and February 2015. Day visits, overnights and/or the audition can be arranged through Matt Wolfe. Students who are unable to audition on campus, may submit a digital audition via getacceptd.com.
