I am a Nurse
Rachelle Maki
Department: Nursing
Major:
Nursing
Class: 2012
As a sophomore, following the completion of her fundamentals of nursing class at Otterbein, Rachel took the State Tested Nurse Aid license and was quickly hired as a student nurse associate at The Ohio State University Hospital East. “I thought the experience would be a favorable advantage to learn more about the medical field as well as the nursing profession.”
Rachelle uses her nursing knowledge and experience to make a difference in her community. She recently volunteered at The Helping Hands Clinic in Columbus. “It was a wonderful experience to help these people who are so grateful to receive health care that every American deserves to have, but that so many live without,” she said. She also volunteers for Race for the Cure, The Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Emergency Department, Sports Pals, and participates in many community service plunges at Otterbein.
In addition she is part of Alpha Lambda Delta/Pi Eta Sigma Freshman Honor Society, Epsilon Kappa Tau Sorority, and the Mortar Board Honor Society.
