Whether it’s as captain of the men’s lacrosse team serving as an orientation leader, Mike Spatafore is a teacher in the making.

Loud, funny, and caring, Spatafore has become actively involved throughout campus and enjoys guiding others. He was named homecoming king during the fall of 2011 and has always made sure to stay involved with his Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity.

Spatafore lists professor Patti Wilson as his most influential staff member.

“She will drop what she’s doing in order to help you with anything,” he said. “She was one of the first people I met at Otterbein and instantly made me feel welcome with a huge smile and great attitude. She is always telling me about new opportunities that will make me a better person and a better teacher.”
Mike has volunteered time as an assistant coach at New Albany High School in addition to coaching youth sports camps during the summer months.

“Otterbein allowed me to be a big fish in a small pond. Many opportunities have been placed in front of me, and being here has given me the confidence to take advantage of them without worrying about what others may think. Most of all, Otterbein allowed me to be me.”
