Otterbein professor to perform one-man comedy show

Professor Jeff Demas, a broadcasting professor at Otterbein University, is getting ready to put together his dream performance, a one-man comedy and music show. Demas will perform at Westerville Central High School on Saturday, May 5, at 8 p.m.

Demas has long been known among his students for his comedy and video production courses. He has been working for more than a year to write and produce a comedy and vocal performance based on the last thirty years of his career, which included a five-year stint as a stand-up comedian in Los Angeles.

Although Demas is tight-lipped about the songs and characters that will make appearances during the show, he describes the show as “Hungarian goulash. We’re going to throw everything in the pot and hope it tastes good.”

“My performance will be the culmination of a career’s worth of goofiness,” said Demas. “My students have suffered through my comedy before but now I’m inflicting it on the general public. I’m sure agents will come knocking on my door after the show, although they may be FBI or insurance agents.”

The show is family friendly but caters to people who can recall songs of the 70s, 80s and 90s. Tickets are $5 and can be pre-ordered at 614-823-1563. Westerville Central is at 7118 Mount Royal Avenue, Westerville 43082.
