Personal Bio
Mary worked in internal medicine in hospital practice in the UK, South
Africa, and Ohio before teaching at Otterbein. She has taught full-time
since 1996, and has developed courses in pathophysiology and in anatomy
and physiology at the undergraduate and graduate level, and in animal
systems physiology. Mary also serves as the Chief Health Professions
Advisor. Her research interest is in scientific pedagogy, and she has
published on the effectiveness of constructivist learning techniques and
of web technologies on learning science. She has received funding from
the National Science Foundation and from the Alden Foundation for
curricular development in physiology. Mary had been a long-time medical
science judge in science competitions at the regional, state and
international level.
