Welcome from the President
Welcome to Otterbein! I hope your online visit offers an informative, meaningful glimpse into some of the remarkable programs and people that distinguish this University.
If you’re considering Otterbein—as a prospective student, parent, colleague, or community partner—here are a few things I hope you remember until we meet in person.
What makes Otterbein distinctive ...
Otterbein is regarded as one of the nation’s leaders for the powerful ways we integrate learning and for our purposeful work to build experiential learning into our academic experience. Read more about our Integrative Studies Program and our Five Cardinal Experiences to understand the transformative opportunity all of our students have to apply their knowledge in real world situations.
What it means to be historically inclusive ...
Otterbein was founded on principles and values that established this school as an inclusive and progressive leader in higher education. Since 1847, Otterbein has been known for doing the right thing for the right reason—from co-education to shared governance to academic innovation. Those core values continue to guide our work today and you may want to explore some of these important “firsts” here.
What Otterbein cares about most …
A University campus offers no shortage of varying informed opinions and brilliant ideas. There is, however, one thing we all agree upon here—and that is serving the best interests of our students.
Every decision, program, opportunity, and investment is focused on providing a learning experience that fosters the development of the whole student. There are countless ways to see this for yourself—whether you visit the Center for Student Success, explore our faculty and student profiles, visit the First Year Experience and the Senior Year Experience pages, or you read more about our nationally recognized commitment to community service.
If you’re one of our nearly 23,000 accomplished alumni, current student leaders or their proud families, visionary donors, business and community partners, or our close-knit community of faculty scholars and staff—then you already know something very special happens here. As you get to know Otterbein, you, too, will understand the many ways this University is uniquely able to inspire compassionate, confident, well prepared leaders to join their professions and their communities as globally-minded citizens.
I hope you’ll decide to visit us on campus soon to explore Otterbein for yourself.
