Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Hunt Seat Team
The huntseat team is open to all levels of riders. IHSA shows consist of nine divisions and riders compete in regional competitions throughout the academic year. Strong placings will secure a position in the Zone and/or National Championship Horse Show as a team or individual.
Riders also have the opportunity to hone their show skills at local rated and unrated horse shows. Riders can compete on their own horse or one of the many suitable mounts owned by Otterbein University. To be eligible for the team, riders are required to register for at least two lessons per week.
Otterbein's 2014-15 IHSA team finished as the Zone 6, Region 2 Championship Team. This championship earned Otterbein a spot at the Zone 6 finals where Otterbein finished as the reserve champion team, securing a spot at the IHSA National Championships held on April 30-May 3, 2015 at the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, MA. Otterbein is also represented in the Cacchione Cup by Mattie Boyd, Intermediate Over Fences by Samantha Psanis, and Novice Over Fences by Megan DeMott.
