Choirs

2014-2015 Choir Information

Prospective Choir Students

The Otterbein Choirs offer something for everyone. Jazz, pop, classical, and choral/orchestral works are performed by our choirs on a regular basis. Students of all majors sing in the choirs, and all of the ensembles are of the highest quality. There are finanical aid and music award opportunities for students from every major on campus. Students audition for choral placement.

The choral and vocal program at Otterbein has a long and distinguished tradition, reaching back as far as 1858. Today Otterbein has seven vocal ensembles performing a wide variety of repertoire, from Emmy Rossum to Brahms.

Otterbein’s choirs combine regularly to perform choral masterworks in conjunction with the Westerville Symphony. In addition, Otterbein choirs have performed with the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, and appear regularly at professional conferences of the Ohio Music Education Association and the American Choral Directors Association.

Auditions & Awards

On-Campus Auditions for Choir Ensembles
Students across campus, regardless of major, are encouraged to audition for placement in one of our choirs. Auditions will be held the weekend before classes begin, on Saturday and Sunday afternoon. You may sign up for a time on the bulletin board located in the Battelle Fine Arts Center lobby. Students do not need to bring a solo to the audition. If you have questions, contact Dr. Gayle Walker, gwalker@otterbein.edu or 614-634-0024.

Participation & Talent Awards
Participation awards are available for all majors. Talent awards are available for music majors by audition. Click here to learn more about our awards.
