Meg Crofton To Speak at Commencement
Meg Crofton serves as president, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Operations, United States and France. She is responsible for operations at the company’s theme parks and resorts including the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Disneyland Resort in California, and Disneyland Paris. In her role, Meg also has day-to-day responsibility for Walt Disney World Resort, overseeing a work force of more than 62,000 Cast Members at the world’s premier vacation destination. She reports to Thomas O. Staggs, chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.
A 31-year Disney veteran, Meg is widely known and respected for her outstanding leadership and passion for a world-class Guest and Cast experience. "Our cast members are the ones responsible for delivering Disney’s legendary guest service," she says. "They’re constantly developing better ways to delight and surprise our visitors – and deliver on the Disney promise."
Meg has held a wide range of executive positions at Disney in Hotel Operations, Convention Sales and Services, and Human Resources, and played key leadership roles in the opening of both Disneyland Resort Paris and Hong Kong Disneyland Resort.
Meg began her professional career in 1975 in Marketing at General Telephone and Electronics and joined The Walt Disney Company in 1977 as a marketing manager with Vista-United Telecommunications. After leaving Disney in 1979 to join AT&T as District Manager of Marketing, she rejoined the company in 1981 and proceeded to work her way up through a variety of leadership roles.
Meg has been active in the Central Florida community for many years. She previously served on the Rollins College Board of Trustees, as well as the boards of both the Central Florida Commission on Homelessness and Orlando Health, the Executive Committee of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, and the board of the Metro Orlando Economic Development Commission, which she chaired in 2009-2010, and continues to serve as a member of the Governors Council. In 2011, Meg co-chaired the Greater Orlando Heart Walk for the American Heart Association, and she currently serves on the University of Central Florida Board of Trustees and is a member of The Florida Council of 100.
Meg attended Rollins College and transferred to Florida State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in Marketing and her MBA. She and her husband, Rich, live in Winter Park, Florida.
