The Clements Recreation and Fitness Center

This beautiful $9.5 million facility was dedicated on October 18, 2002. It features a fieldhouse of over 70,000 square feet and a two-story connector to the existing Rike Center. The fieldhouse features a sanctioned six-lane, 200-meter indoor track; four practice courts for multiple activities, including basketball, tennis, volleyball and badminton; pole vault, long jump and high jump pits and a shot put area; four batting cages and a spectator balcony.

The Clements Center features state-of-the-art Cybex weightlifting equipment and Star-Trac cardiovascular equipment, giving fitness seekers an opportunity to meet their workout needs on a vast array of equipment. Many of the Star-Trac treadmills and ellipticals are equipped with a flat screen TV for your viewing pleasure in addition to overhead large-screen TVs for the general public.

The Rike Center

This domed-roof facility encloses an intercollegiate wood basketball floor with seating for 3,100 spectators; nets and space to segment three courts for volleyball, tennis or basketball; and a tenth-mile oval track. This facility also has a weight training room and two handball/racquetball courts. Additionally, nets serve to section off an indoor baseball, infield, and batting practice cage. Outdoor sports facilities include tennis courts, softball, baseball and soccer fields, and Memorial Stadium, with a seating capacity of 5000 and a 440-yard all-weather track surrounding the natural grass football field. The "O" Club weight room was opened and dedicated in the spring of 2008 and features various pieces of York Barbell equipment and free weights.

Hours

Normal Hours of Operation:

  • Monday-Thursday: 7:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
  • Friday: 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Saturday: Noon to 7:00 p.m.
  • Sunday: 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Summer Hours:

  • Monday-Friday: 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Entry Rules

All current Cardinal Card holders may use free of charge the Clements Recreation & Fitness Center and Rike Center. Entrance to both the Clements and Rike Centers is gained by swiping a Cardinal Card at the Clements Recreation Center front desk followed by admittance by the Recreation Assistant on duty. Admission may be denied if you do not have your Cardinal Card.

Guest Policy

Any member of the Otterbein community who has an active Cardinal Card may bring one "non-family" guest into the Clements Recreation & Fitness Center or an unlimited number of "family-members". The guest(s) will be registered under the card holder and is expected to abide by the same rules and regulations. The card holder must be present with his or her guest at all times.
