Personal Bio
Jim Bowling is an assistant professor in the Art Department and teaches in the areas of ceramics and sculpture; he is also a sculptor living and working in Columbus, Ohio. His primary media is clay, but Jim also incorporates materials such as metal, wood and glass. He uses the human form as a means to address themes of sexuality, spirituality and personal identity.
Jim is a graduate of The Ohio State University and received his MFA in ceramics from Kent State University. His work has exhibited regionally and nationally in both group and solo exhibitions, and is in several private collections as well as in the permanent collection of the Massillon Museum in Massillon, Ohio. He serves as a board member for the Ohio Designer Craftsman, and is currently a member of the Ohio Arts Council’s Percent for Art Advisory Selection Committee.
