Karl has performed across North America, playing guitar in every imaginable style and setting. From the classical concert hall to playing rock 'n roll; whether sitting in pit orchestras for musicals, jazz clubs to Irish pubs, he sees the guitar's greatest strength as lying in its versatility, and strives to do it all.
Recent highlights include a series of concerts with Grammy Award winning counter-tenor, Ian Howell; participating in a week-long residency with avant-garde chamber orchestra, Alarm Will Sound; and recording with the Lancaster Festival Orchestra for the KOCH label.
Karl has been on the faculty of the Summer Guitar Workshop at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music for since 1995, and has performed there as a soloist, featured composer, and in chamber music collaborations.
He holds a Master's degree in classical guitar performance from the Cleveland Institute of Music and has served on the faculties of Capital University and Ohio Wesleyan University. He runs a successful private teaching studio and a small project recording studio in Columbus, and freelances extensively. He has been at Otterbein University since 1996.
