Luis Perez, Ph.D

Senior Lecturer

Personal Bio

I have a M.A. and Ph.D. in Spanish Literature from The Catholic University of America, Washington D.C. (1993), where I also taught Spanish language for eleven years, and a B.S. in Aeronautic Engineering from the Universidad Politécnica of Madrid, Spain. In 2009 I came to Otterbein University from Moscow, where I was teaching Spanish at the University for fifteen years.

I am very interested on the use of technology, especially the Internet, for teaching languages. I think it is very important to take advantage of all the possibilities that the Web can offer us as educators, especially the web understood as a social tool, which is characterized by the communication and dialogue between users.  For several years I have used Blogs and other tools in my Spanish classes and I think that the possibilities that they offer to teachers are enormous.

The combination of a motivating teaching with a communicative approach using real life situations and with the help of the Internet may make learning Spanish a worthwhile adventure that could mark positively the life of our students.
