Professor Yann Guezennec received his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1979 from the Institut National des Sciences Appliquées (INSA) in Lyon, France and his Ph.D. in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in 1985 from Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago.
From 1986 until 2016, he was a Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio.
He has a broad technical knowledge and skills in diverse engineering fields from fluid mechanics, to thermodynamics and energy, modeling, automotive powertrains, batteries and fuel cell systems, applied signal/image processing. He has over 200 publications in diverse technical fields and holds 15 US and 1 French patents granted, many deployed in production in automobiles.
In addition, from ’93 until ’96, he was a successful business start-up entrepreneur as President, Founder, and CTO of FloCoTec, Inc. in Columbus, Ohio, creating fully automated particle tracking analysis systems to resolve 3-D flow in engines for Ford Motor Co. (US), Hyundai Motor Co. (Korea), and doing R&D projects with the Institut Francais du Pétrôle (France) and NASA (US).
