It was a great year to be a Cardinal!
Check out these areas of success that made
the 2016 school year STAND OUT among the best.

STANDING for Learning and Discovery

Otterbein welcomed respected leaders and scholars to campus.

From a champion for a true free press to a Nobel Prize winner for physics.

From writers who helped us understand the hidden lives of Americans and racial awareness and respect.

The first class of zoo and conservation science majors graduated along with 597 bachelor’s and master’s candidates and nine doctors of nursing practice who comprised the Class of 2016.

Otterbein launched a new Marysville location and a new systems engineering major.

We announced our commitment to the future of learning with the STEAM Innovation Center. Otterbein is partnering with leading organizations from the private and public sectors in central Ohio to create this new science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) center, which will combine academics with the business and manufacturing needs of our community.

STEAM majors + industry leaders and entrepreneurs = a new business ecosystem.

We STAND to …

  • create the jobs of the 21st century
  • take concepts from ideation to the marketplace
  • give students a one-of-a-kind hands-on learning experience

STANDING for Global Engagement

Otterbein engaged with the world in new and powerful ways.

We launched a new arts initiative that is Opening Doors to the World, bringing international artists and musicians to visit campus and central Ohio.

Alumni returned to campus from Japan and South Korea to reconnect and share their work, while other alumni helped bridge recruitment efforts in countries that included Costa Rica, Turkey, Peru, China and Switzerland.

Provost Miguel Martinez-Saenz received the Fulbright-Nehru award to explore partnership opportunities between Indian institutions and Otterbein.

STANDING for Excellence

Otterbein continued to set the pace as a national leader in higher education recognized among

Our leaders were also recognized among the best.

“Getting in touch with the core make-up, profile and history of the institution and determining how that translates into a contemporary context was critical to our ability to move forward.”

STANDING for Opportunity

We honored Otterbein values by starting critical conversations on diversity and inclusion and stayed true to equality and collaboration with a new and enhanced governance model.

And with the help of donors and Otterbein champions, we continue to ensure our University will STAND strong into the future

We’ve got momentum for the future.

We have inspiring campaign progress. The Where We STAND Matters campaign cleared the $25 million mark, thanks to more than 8,800 donors, 2,300 of whom made first-time gifts. All 50 states have donors in them, with Ohio leading the way with more than 6,000 donors.

We continue to celebrate some of our most promising young alumni and some of the most accomplished leaders for their excellence.

And to keep Otterbein’s excellence affordable, for the third straight year, there has been NO INCREASE in undergraduate tuition.

And we are preparing to welcome one of the largest and most diverse incoming classes in recent history.

Your friendship, service and Cardinal pride enables us to STAND strong and succeed.

We thank you!
