Westerville, OH— The Otterbein University film series Films Without Borders will host a screening of the Korean disaster movie Haeundae, or Tidal Wave, at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 29, in room 110 of Towers Hall, 1 S. Grove St. The screening is free and open to the public, with refreshments available for purchase.
Haeundae had the highest budget of any Korean film when it was released in 2009, and was Korea’s first disaster film. The film’s title is taken from Haeundae Beach, a wealthy seaside resort area near Busan, South Korea. The film slowly introduces and develops its central characters, local residents who are each dealing with life’s problems, when a tsunami unexpectedly turns their lives upside down.
