The festivities begin with the Founders Day Celebration on Friday, April 26. A Prayer of Remembrance to honor alumni and friends who have passed over the past year will be held at 3:15 p.m. on the lawn of Towers Hall, 1 S. Grove St. The annual Founders Convocation, Snapshots: Life at Otterbein in 1913, 1963 and 2013, will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Fritsche Theatre at Cowan Hall, 30 S. Grove St. The convocation will feature readings from student publications, memories from alumni and student reflections about life at Otterbein, as well as slideshow of historical photos and performance of historical songs. Hanby House will be open for tours from 1:30-3 p.m. at 160 W. Main St.
Parents can head to Uptown Westerville’s 4th Friday Festival after bringing their children to campus for Kids Night Out from 6-8:30 p.m. on Friday, April 26, in the Rike Center, 180 Center St. This annual event is hosted by Otterbein student-athletes for children in grades K-5. Athletic skills stations will be set up during the evening where Otterbein’s student-athletes will lead and supervise games and activities. Otterbein’s mascot Cardy will be there to join kids in a popsicle break, and the student-athletes will sign autographs. Children should plan to wear clothes and shoes for running and playing. Otterbein athletic trainers will be in attendance in the event of an injury. Space is limited and reservations are required.
A variety of Otterbein athletic events will be held on campus on Saturday, April 27. Women’s Lacrosse takes on Concordia-Wisconsin at 12 p.m. and Baseball and the Men’s Tennis take on their Capital University rivals at 1 p.m., all at the Sports Complex north of the Campus Center, 100 W. Home St. Cardinal Cheerleaders will be selling hotdogs at a Dime-a-Dog sale starting at noon.
Learn the rules of lacrosse at a Chalk Talk at 12 p.m. by the Fishbaugh Baseball Field at the Sports Complex before the Men’s Lacrosse team plays LaRoche at 3 p.m. at Memorial Stadium on Center Street.
On Sunday, April 28, the public is invited to Otterbein’s Austin E. Knowlton Center for Equine Science from 12:30-2 p.m. for free tours, hunter/jumper riding demonstrations, family photos with an Otterbein resident horse and many kids’ activities, including a grooming station, making horse treats and decorating stall doors. The Knowlton Center is located at 600 N. Spring St.
