Cries about the coming apocalypse grow louder as we near the end of the Mayan calendar, and yet we only become more dependent on our electronic devices, microwaveable dinners and credit card purchases. Recent disasters have tested the ability of Americans to survive without technology. Dance Concert: Pulse explores the implications of a life without these technological conveniences.
Dance Concert: Pulse is a genuine collaboration of ideas and styles in a multi-media format. Nine choreographers interpret the story of technology, from its humble beginnings in the form of fire to the contemporary bombardment of television, the Internet, text messages and more. This concert is meant to ask how much more we can take, or more to the point, what if we woke up tomorrow and nothing worked? What if technology failed us?
The annual dance concert is as a collection of original concept and choreography by the Otterbein Dance faculty. Dance Concert: Pulse will also feature original music composed by Rob Johnson, Faculty Scenic Designer at Otterbein. The cast will be made up of Otterbein University Theatre majors and Dance minors.
Tickets for Dance Concert: Pulse can be reserved by calling the Otterbein University box office at (614) 823-1109. The box office is open 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and one hour prior to performances. Student Rush discounts are available one hour prior to curtain, pending ticket availability. The box office is located in Cowan Hall, 30 S. Grove St., Westerville.
