Otterbein University Welcomes Community to Homecoming

Westerville, OH— Otterbein University invites the community to participate in Cardy’s Rockin’ Homecoming on Saturday, Sept. 21, featuring a new parade route and a block party on Grove Street with music, food and Cardy’s Kids Zone.
Homecoming Weekend kicks off with the Third Annual Young Alumni Awards, celebrating accomplished recent graduates, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 20, in Roush Hall, 27 S. Grove St.
On Saturday morning, the Otterbein chapter of Up ’til Dawn will host its sixth annual charity Homecoming 5K Run, Walk and Stroll to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event will begin at 8:45 a.m. at the Campus Center, 100 W. Home St. Registration is $10 at the event and is open to the public.
If you are more of a spectator, come out and watch runners from 20 colleges and high schools compete in a cross county invitational at 9 a.m. at the University’s Cross Country Course next to the Westerville Community Center on North Cleveland Avenue.
Featuring a new route, the Homecoming Parade will start at 10 a.m. at North West Street and Martin Drive, traveling south to West Park Street, east to North Grove Street and ending in a Rockin’ Homecoming Block Party on Grove Street in front of the Campus Center. The Block Party will run from 11 a.m.-2p.m., with live music, food, children’s activities, service projects and a small farmer’s market.
Cardinal Football takes on Wilmington University at 2 p.m. in Memorial Stadium on Center Street. Tickets to the game are $5 for adults and $2 for students and children. Men’s soccer takes on Ohio Midwestern at 1 p.m. and women’s soccer takes on Manchester University at 3:30 p.m. Both matches will be held at the soccer field north of the Campus Center and admission is free.
The public also is welcome to a seminar for parents and college-bound student, Tips on the College Search Process, presented by the Otterbein Admission Office, at 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. in room 118 of the Courtright Memorial Library on the northwest corner of Grove and Main streets. Other highlights of the day include an academic spotlight on the Department of Nursing, a display of the Otterbein Master Plan and self-guided tours of the remodeled Courtright Memorial Library.
