Westerville, OH—The Otterbein Departments of Music and Art will host a collaborative performance by pianist Nicholas Ross and visual artist Maurice Quillinan at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 15, in Riley Auditorium of the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park St. A lecture about the collaboration will precede the concert at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. Quillinan’s visit to Otterbein is made possible by a generous grant from Otterbein's Enrichment Series.
The program, Debussy in the Rain, will feature a series of Quillinan’s original paintings inspired by solo piano pieces to be performed by Ross, including Images, book 1 and 2, and Estampes by Claude Debussy, as well the premiere of a new piano sonata by composer Kent Holliday. Quillinan’s paintings will be projected onto a screen in Riley Auditorium as Ross performs, with some smaller canvases to be displayed in the Battelle Fine Arts Center Lobby.
