Otterbein to Present Flute Choir Performance
Otterbein will present the culminating performance of the Third Annual High School Flute Choir Day at 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, in Riley Auditorium at the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park St. This event is hosted by the Otterbein University bands and Dr. Kimberlee Goodman, professor of flute studies. The performance is free and open to the public.
Otterbein Student Composition Recital Composition students in the Otterbein University Department of Music will showcase their work at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, in Riley Auditorium at the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park St. The program includes solos, chamber music, and electro-acoustic music composed by students in various music classes throughout the past year. The performance is free and open to the public.
Introducing … The Otterbein Freshman Musical Theatre Ensemble
The Friends of the Otterbein University Courtright Memorial Library and the Otterbein University Department of Music present the Freshman Musical Theatre Ensemble at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 3, in Riley Auditorium at the Battelle Fine Arts Center, 170 W. Park St. The performance open to the public. A freewill offering will support the Friends of the Library. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 614-823-1414.
Otterbein Concert Choir to Perform
The Otterbein University Concert Choir will perform at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 24, at Grace Lutheran Church, 100 E. Schrock Rd. The program will feature music performed on the choir’s Spring Tour to New Orleans, including works by Bach, Golovanov, Lotti, Gjeilo, Duruflé, and Hogan. The concert is free and open to the public.
The Otterbein Concert Choir is the most select of the Otterbein University’s seven vocal ensembles. The Choir tours annually to destinations both domestic and abroad. Recent itineraries have included Philadelphia in 2011, China in 2010; Chicago in 2009, and Toronto in 2008. They frequently perform at professional conferences, including the American Choral Directors Association Division Conference and the Ohio Music Education Association Conference. The concert on March 24 will be the Concert Choir’s “homecoming” performance, concluding their 2013 tour to Louisville, Ky.; Birmingham, Ala.; New Orleans, La.; Baton Rouge, La.; Memphis, Tenn.; Nashville, Tenn. and Cincinnati, Ohio.
