It was really all about what can Otterbein do for you rather than what you can do for Otterbein. I really loved Otterbein’s focus on students, what they can bring, and what Otterbein can do to get them here, to make sure their experience is a wonderful experience.
English (with a Religion Minor) '08
Master's of Divinity Candidate at Duke University
Pastoral Intern at Duke Memorial United Methodist Church
Otterbein helped me know how to be with people who are different than I am. The religion courses helped me see how others live, think, and believe. I learned that the difference between cultures is not an issue of who's right and who's wrong. We're simply different. We're diverse. If anything, Otterbein didn't teach me how to educate people; it taught me how to be a student of people. That's what I want my life to be about.
Sarah is the recipient of a 2012 Otterbein Young Alumni Global and Intercultural Engagement Award.

Associate Dean of General Studies at ITT Technical Institute
"The aspect I found most helpful was the cordiality and approachability of the faculty. I did not recognize how novel it was at the time because it was all I knew, but since I left Otterbein I have met a good many college professors and post-grads, specifically in philosophy, who seem to not have much respect or time for the student. I am certain that a good 90 percent of my success as a professor is because I'm pretty much just trying to do exactly what (my professors at Otterbein) did."

"Probably the most applicable skill I received from my philosophy studies was logic. Now that I work in the state government, I use logic in various capacities including logic models for program evaluation."
