Every spring, students are inducted into the Pack Society, receiving a financial award to pursue a project of their own design that meets a specific community-identified need. These initiatives help strengthen our local community outreach through research that is grounded in specific theoretical and methodological models pertinent to the student’s major.
Faculty sponsors serve as advisors to the students and meet regularly with them, offering interdisciplinary insights into their projects.
The Vernon L. Pack Fellowship was established in 2006 through the generosity of Vernon L. Pack, a 1950 graduate of Otterbein and a leader in the Westerville community. The award provides funding to meet project expenses, including travel to conferences or meetings, purchase of books and acquisition of software and/or research equipment. Applications are evaluated in April and May, and the award winners will be announced at the Celebration of Service in the spring.
Applications can be found here. Also, more information can be found on the Pack Society Factsheet.
