International Student Programs conducts initial and ongoing orientation, helps international students adjust to a new culture and academic system, provides important information on immigration regulations initially and throughout their stay, assists them with immigration processes, coordinates their activities and advises the International Students Association, and assists and counsels them in many other ways as well.
The Host Family Program
This program assigns new international students to host families in the Westerville-Columbus area who are genuinely interested in getting to know students from another culture and in sharing their own culture with them. They meet their students when they arrive (as mentioned above), invite them to dinner and to family events, take them on short excursions, and help them in many different ways. Countless enduring friendships have developed over the years from this great experience.
International Student Association
The International Student Association (ISA) is one of the most active organizations on campus. The ISA holds social functions and cultural events, such as the International Festival and the Global Village Dinner and Show, a joint project with the African American Student Union, and Sisters United. In addition, students can enjoy excursions to interesting sites in Ohio, and also to such out-of-state locations as Niagara Falls and the Shakespeare Festival in Stratford, Ontario, Canada. The ISA is open not only to international students but also to any others with an interest in things and people international.
Otterbein's Center for International Education and Global Engagement has many resources for international students.
