The Otterbein Semester is an incredible study abroad program for international students looking for a one or two semester experience in the United States. Otterbein University, founded in 1847, is located in Westerville, Ohio a safe college town that is a suburb of Columbus, Ohio, the nation’s 15th largest city. Otterbein’s historic and beautiful campus is just minutes from Columbus International Airport, with easy access to international destinations around the globe.
At Otterbein, students will experience small classes (our average class size is 18-20) taught by faculty who know and care about their students. Your academic experience will be individually crafted by your academic advisor, based on your major and language skills, with an emphasis on an integrated learning environment with US students. You will stay on track to graduate as Otterbein faculty and staff help you select courses that will transfer back to your home institution. Otterbein University is known for its commitment to educating the whole person and hands-on learning.
Otterbein Semester students live and eat on campus with their fellow US students, so it is truly an immersive experience. Students are also matched to Otterbein Host families to allow students a “home” away from campus. Participants also have the opportunity to experience the cultural opportunities of Columbus, Ohio with many concerts, art museums, and the nation’s number one ranked zoo. Columbus, Ohio is centrally located in the Midwest, within 8 hours travel by car to Chicago, New York City, Washington DC, Atlanta and many other attractions of interest in the US.
Cost for Participation
Tuition and fees for the Otterbein Semester are $5,000 (U.S.) per semester. Students are eligible to participate for up to 2 semesters.
A traditional room (double) and board (150 meals /semester) average $4,730 per semester.
Students who are not covered by their parent’s health insurance are required to purchase health insurance while attending Otterbein University. Students should plan on having access to $1,500 - $2,000 for miscellaneous expenses each semester.
