Find the Right Kind of Sources
 

When doing research it is beneficial to understand the strengths and weaknesses of different types of sources. Although specific topics may be best explained by a particular source (for example, periodicals are a good place to find information on current events) it is always a good idea to use a variety of sources in your research. This will give you an array of diverse perspectives and will allow you to gain a better understanding of your subject.

There are several types of sources, such as books, periodicals, electronic databases and the Internet. In the following pages you can examine each type individually and learn searching techniques that can be used in databases and on the Internet to yield more useful results.
