Using Reference Sources
The Reference section on the first floor of the library has a variety of books that can help you with biographical, geographical and historical facts. There are dictionaries, encyclopedias and other works on every subject to help you find background information on your topic. Many of the reference sources now are also available electronically via the library home page.

Reference Sources...

Provide an overview of a topic

Have bibliographies (or a list of sources) that lead to experts on the topic and more information

Define terms to help focus or narrow your search

Are an excellent place to start your research
Librarians also are available at the Reference desk to help you -- please remember to always ask for assistance whenever you need it. You can find contact information for the librarians in two places: "Ask a Librarian" from the library homepage and "Contact a Librarian" within this tutorial.
