Determine if Your Information is Relevant to Your Topic
Questions to Ask Yourself
Is the information you found relevant to your topic?
Does it add to or support your thesis?
Is it scholarly enough or is it too popular in tone?
Was it published recently enough or do you need historical information?
For a website, is it reliable? Has it been maintained on a regular basis and do the links work?
How does this information compare to other information you have found on your topic?
What is the date the information was published or posted to the web?
Is the information recent enough? Statistics should clearly show the dates of the data and methods used. Information from a company's annual report should clearly show the date.
This source would not be ideal for recent statistics.
