Southwest Jiaotong University, with 18 schools, students totaling more than 38,000, faculty and staff over 3,900, has established good collaboration relationships with over 70 universities of 50 countries and states.

Come find out more about the university, its libraries and educational partnerships like 1+2+1 program, its implications for increase enrollment for international students at Otterbein, more study abroad opportunities for Otterbein students and possible future academic collaboration and exchange to support the Otterbein's global learning efforts.

Presenters: Jill Tan, the exchange librarian from Southwest Jiaotong University and Jane Wu, the Systems Librarian at Otterbein.

Torch & Key Book Sale

The library will be holding its annual Torch & Key book sale until early November. New items are being added everyday.

Prices are $.50 for paperback books and $1.00 for hardcover. Proceeds support Torch and Key scholarships for Otterbein students.

Library Display

“Cherish What Remains” is the theme of the first floor library display.  Aerial photographs of  mountaintop mining sites in West Virginia are featured,  with facts about coal use in Ohio and photographs  of an Environmental Geology class  trip to the AEP Conesville Plant  to understand how coal is used to produce electricity.

The 2nd floor display features novels and some poems about coal miners and mining.

New Music CD Storage

The Library purchased a new storage unit for music CDs. You no longer have to bend to reach that favorite CD again.

Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 at 11:00 am – Dedication and Open House for the Alice G. Salt Reading Room in the Otterbein Archives

The reading room for the College Archives will be dedicated on Saturday October 24 at 11:00 am in memory of Alice G. Salt, one of the founding members of the Friends of the Otterbein College Courtright Memorial Library and mother of Elizabeth (Betsy) Salt, Catalog Librarian at the Courtright Memorial Library. Come join us for the dedication and tours of the Archives.

Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009 at 7:30 pm – An Evening with Common Book author, Ann Pancake as she discusses her book, Strange as the weather has been. The author’s books will be available for purchase and refreshments will be served.
