Visiting Librarians
From Shanghai Jiaotong University
& Southwest Jiaotong Unviersity
Courtright Memorial Library welcomes two visiting librarians Ms. Jia Peng (Christine) from Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), one of the top five universities in China, and Mr. Ning Li (Ford) from Southwest Jiaotong University(SWJU) in Chendu, China.
The goal of their visit is to develop a comprehensive understanding of U.S. academic libraries’ operations including collections, services and management.
Ms. Peng is an e-resource librarian who manages all electronic databases (over 300 databases or 90+ platforms) at SJTU and provides support on using them. In her spare time, she likes to listen to the Chinese cross talk (Xiangsheng), a traditional Chinese comedic performance in the form of a dialogue between two performers. She also likes to read detective novels and is a fan of Agatha Christie.
Mr. Li has worked at the Library System and Technology Department at SWJU for 17 years and helps to support the library computer and information systems. In his spare time, he likes to play football (soccer), cycle, swim, read, and watch movies.
On November 20th from 12:30-1:30pm at Campus Center Dinning Room Three, Ms. Peng and Mr. Li will give a presentation to campus about educational opportunities in Shanghai and Chengdu. We hope you will come to this presentation where we will explore the opportunities faculty, staff and students have for study abroad, exchange visits, and other learning experiences in China.
