Fareed Zakaria and Democracy During the month of April, on the first floor of the library, information
about the 2004 Vernon L. Pack Distinguished Lecturer, Fareed Zakaria
is displayed. Library copies of his four books may be checked out. Also
on display are recent photographs from AP news sources that capture
images of democracy around the world and visuals that show democratic
trends. A video being shown continuously provides a preview of Zakaria'
s personality and issues from his latest 2003 book, The Future of Freedom:
Illiberal Democracy . In addition, two DVDs that feature Zakaria may
be checked out - Islam vs. Islam and Justice and Jihad. Pick up a copy
of the bibliography of related books in the library, and stop by the
large bulletin board close to the display that invites all students
and faculty to consider what democracy does mean to each of us and to
write a brief note to share thoughts and opinions with others. |
