New Library Materials by Subject

Starting from February, the library's monthly new material list is now arranged by subject instead of call number. Find out what new items are being added to the subject fields you are interested in by going to library's monthly new materials list at http://library.otterbein.edu/libpages/otnewtl.htm

Do you know that you can renew your items, verify due dates, check on the status of OhioLINK requests, and other functions all from one click? To view your library record, go to the library's home page at http://library.otterbein.edu and click on "My Account".

Attentions all faculty and staff. The last date to submit your library orders for this calendar year is April 15th ! This will ensure that all the orders you submit be charged to your library departmental budget for this year instead of next year. You can either submit your order online in the comfort of your office, or send an order slip to your department chair or library liaison .

With a Song in my Heart --- and a Book in my Hand

The Friends of the Library invite you to come to the Courtright Memorial Library on Saturday April 17 at 7:00 PM and enjoy an exciting presentation by the Freshman Musical Theatre students. A short Friends business meeting will be held after the Theatre presentation, at which point we will elect new officers for the next two years.

Fareed Zakaria and Democracy

During the month of April, on the first floor of the library, information about the 2004 Vernon L. Pack Distinguished Lecturer, Fareed Zakaria is displayed. Library copies of his four books may be checked out. Also on display are recent photographs from AP news sources that capture images of democracy around the world and visuals that show democratic trends. A video being shown continuously provides a preview of Zakaria' s personality and issues from his latest 2003 book, The Future of Freedom: Illiberal Democracy . In addition, two DVDs that feature Zakaria may be checked out - Islam vs. Islam and Justice and Jihad. Pick up a copy of the bibliography of related books in the library, and stop by the large bulletin board close to the display that invites all students and faculty to consider what democracy does mean to each of us and to write a brief note to share thoughts and opinions with others.
