Renovations AGAIN in the library. During the summer, the microform room on the second floor of the library was transformed into a computer classroom (named Library 201). It includes 19 student computers, scanner, laser printer, DVD/VCR, data projector, and instructor’s workstation. The computer classroom can be reserved from either the library’s homepage or the Information Technology homepage.

Still interested in using microforms? The microform cabinets and reader printers were moved to the west wall on the 2nd floor, near the West Study room. Please ask for further directions or assistance, if necessary.

On October 6, a training session for RefWorks, will be held in Library 201, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. A representative from RefWorks will demonstrate how to organize and create a personal database online, and use it to format bibliographies in over 200 styles.  You can also easily insert parenthetical references and create a final bibliography of the works you cite.  This saves hours of typing time and decreases the number of errors. Reservations are necessary.  Please call Patti Rothermich, x 1366 to reserve a spot.

New Research Databases
LearningExpress Library: Starting July 1, the LearningExpress Library is now available to all Ohio residents through the state's public libraries, K-12 schools, colleges and community colleges, and adult education centers. LearningExpress Library provides a completely interactive online learning platform of practice tests and tutorial course series designed to help patrons, students, and adult learners succeed on the academic or licensing tests they must pass. You'll get immediate scoring, complete answer explanations, and an individualized analysis of your results. A complete list of the LearningExpress Library resources you should have access to is available here.
Sociological Index: Effective July 1, OhioLINK will subscribe to EBSCO's Sociological Index and end its subscription to CSA's Sociological Abstracts. EBSCO describes Sociological Index as "The world's most comprehensive and highest quality sociology research database. This index features more than 1,300,000 records with informative abstracts for more than 590 'core' coverage journals dating back to 1895. In addition, this file provides data mined from more than 500 'priority' coverage journals as well as 1,040 'selective' coverage journals."
American National Biography Online is the premier biographical resource on more than 18,000 people from all eras who have influenced and shaped American history and culture.
The CQ Researcher is the choice of researchers seeking original, comprehensive reporting and analysis on issues in the news. Published in print and online 44 times a year, the single-themed CQ Researcher report offers in-depth, non-biased coverage of political and social issues, with regular reports on topics in health, international affairs, education, the environment, technology and the U.S. economy. All databases can be found through the library web page under Find Articles and More.

New OSearch Interface Live

OSearch, a new version of Ohiolink's internally-created interface for many research databases, is now live. OSearch replace many old interfaces for more than 30 databases, including Applied Science and Technology Abstracts, Art Abstracts, Business and Industry, ERIC and PsycINFO, etc

While the basic functionality of OSearch remains the same as the previous version, the most noticeable improvement is the dramatically improved design.
