What are you studying at Otterbein?  

I am studying Studio Art with concentrations in graphic design and photography. I am also minoring in Art History.

What is a typical day like for you as a student?  

Typically, my day starts with a morning studio course and ends with a regular class. After that I usually go back into studio to work on current projects, or I do homework at home. I usually like to spend my free time in the late evenings after that just hanging out and resting alone or with friends.  

What are your goals after graduation?  

After graduation I am aiming to eventually become an art director. However, I am open to this career path changing and I would like to gain a great amount of experience in various types of graphic design and photography jobs including possible freelance work.  

What is your favorite part of being an art and art history student?  

Personally, I enjoy the freedom that comes with being an art/art history student the most. Self-expression is always very important within the assigned studio course projects. On top of that, the professors are also always very helpful and experienced in what they do. I am very grateful that the art department at Otterbein is made up of many different amazing artists.  

Why did you choose Otterbein?  

Otterbein is close to where I grew up, so it feels like home. I love the uptown Westerville area and I wanted to attend a liberal arts school as well.  

What is the best part about living in the Columbus area?  

Columbus has many different opportunities for new up and coming artists and it is a very diverse area.  

What advice would you give to an incoming first-year student?  

My advice would be to focus on time management skills and to study something you are passionate about!
