Toes will be tapping across the newly restored stage of the Fritsche Theatre at Cowan Hall when Otterbein Summer Theatre opens its 2023 season with “I Do, I Do, A Musical About Marriage,” running June 1-4 and June 8-10.  

“I Do, I Do” is a musical valentine and celebration of a marriage written by Harvey Schmidt and Tom Jones (The Fantasticks). It is the touching story spanning 50 years of two soulmates, Agnes and Michael, as they navigate the perils of life and is set to a tuneful, charming score, including “My Cup Runneth Over.”  

Stella Hiatt Kane will make her directorial debut with “I Do, I Do” and Lenny Leibowitz will create the musical staging.  

The Otterbein Summer Theatre production of “I Do, I Do” will have performances at 7:30 p.m. on June 1; at 8 p.m. on June 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10; and at 2 p.m. on June 4 and June 10. All performances are in the Fritsche Theatre at Cowan Hall, 30 S. Grove St., Westerville 

Individual tickets are $33 each. The Otterbein Summer Theatre Box Office is open Monday-Friday, 12-4 p.m., and one hour prior to all performances. The Box Office is located in Cowan Hall. “Baby,” the 1983 Broadway musical features three couples on a university campus dealing with the painful, rewarding and agonizingly funny consequences of the universal experience of pregnancy and upcoming parenthood. There are the college students, barely at the beginning of their adult lives; the thirty-somethings, having trouble conceiving but determined to try; and the middle-aged parents, looking forward to seeing their last child graduate from college… when a night of unexpected passion lands them back where they started. 

Lenny Leibowitz will take the helm to direct “Baby” with Stella Hiatt Kane as choreographer. Otterbein Summer Theatre will produce the script and score produced in 2004 by Papermill Playhouse, though the production has since been revived with additional rewrites off-Broadway in 2019.
