Gary Stansbury ’64 died Feb. 25, 2021. Gary was born on Dec. 10, 1940 in Bellaire, Ohio to the late Robert and Emily (Ramsay) Stansbury. He spent his early childhood years in Powhatan Point on the Ohio River in Belmont County, Ohio. The family moved to Granville in 1952 and Gary graduated from Granville High School in 1958, known to his school friends as “Goose.” He attended Ohio Wesleyan University and was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity. He graduated from Otterbein College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1963.
As the President and CEO of Imsco Corporation in Newark, Gary was in the industrial supplies business for over 30 years. He continued this proud family tradition after the company was founded by his father and uncle. Gary was a volunteer coach for Granville Recreation Commission little league baseball, coaching both of his sons, and sang in the annual community choir performance of Handel’s “Messiah” at Swasey Chapel. He enjoyed playing both platform and traditional tennis. He also served many years on the Granville Planning Commission. Gary loved to travel and, on his most recent trip, dipped his toes in the Indian Ocean.
He is survived by his wife Judy (Ratliff) Stansbury; his four children, Susan (Chris Minniear) Stansbury of Eugene, Oregon, Douglas (Cassi Crall) Stansbury, of Shorewood, Wisconsin, David (Cathy) Stansbury, of Newark, and Meg (Scott Clark) Stansbury, of Cincinnati; six grandchildren, Alex, Josh, Zoe, Ava, Lily and Catie; and great-granddaughter, Everleigh.
