Anne Ivers Lathrop, Class of 1999

Anne Ivers Lathrop ’99 died March 6, 2021. Anne was born on March 26, 1965 to the late Ralph Ivers and Agnes (Hairston) Ivers, and graduated from Upper Arlington High School. Anne became one of the first students to complete Columbus State’s Early Childhood Development program. She later graduated from Otterbein University with a B.A. in Elementary Education.
During high school, Anne developed a special love for the island of Martha’s Vineyard where she honeymooned and vacationed almost every year since 1982. She developed a huge interest in Greek Revival architecture and the New England houses built in that style. She loved antiquing and collecting pre-Civil War era furniture. She collected antique sprig ware china, acquired one of the largest collections in Central Ohio and she loved every piece of it!
Anne treated all people with dignity and respect. She was a voice against bigotry, racism and sexism. She was also a woman of quiet faith and served as an Elder at Boulevard Presbyterian Church. Anne’s loving heart brightened the life of everyone around her. She was constantly thinking of ways she could bring joy and love to the lives of others, especially her family members.
Anne was preceded in death by her parents and by her niece Xav.
She is survived by her husband James Lathrop, children; Catherine and William Lathrop; sister, Nancy Ivers (Gerald)Ferguson; brothers-in-law, Steve (Chris), Bill (Carol), and Larry (Penny) Lathrop; She is also survived by her aunt Georgia Hairston Triplett and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
