William Welch, Class of 1978

William “Bill” Welch ’78 died on Nov. 20, 2019. Bill was born on Sept. 9, 1956. He graduated from Otterbein with a bachelor of arts in Business Administration. During his time at Otterbein, Bill was active on the football team, as well as a member of both the ‘O’ Club and the Pi Kappa Phi fraternity.
He worked for Lennox Industries as a credit manager, territory manager, and district manager for 12 years, which took him all across the country. He then worked for Excelsior Manufacturing and Supply as a district sales manager. In 2005, Welch went to work for Carrier Enterprise as a Bryant brand manager. For the last three years, he served as the central region distribution sales director for Samsung HVAC. In his free time, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family.
Bill is survived by his wife Joyce Welch ’76, sons Mike and Brian, sisters Kim and Terie, and six grandchildren.
