Barbara Noble Earnest, Class of 1958

Barbara Noble Earnest ’58 died June 9, 2021. She was born Jan. 3, 1936 and her family soon moved to Westerville. Her late mother was alumna Mary Samuel Noble ’32. Barbara earned her English degree from Otterbein and was involved in the Tau Epsilon Mu (Talisman) sorority. She met and married her husband James Earnest ’60 at Otterbein.
In the mid-sixties, she worked in the Otterbein Library with Mrs. MacKenzie, Mrs. Miller, and Mr. Becker. She was employed by Fluor for several years and then started a word processing business in our home, Miss B’s Secretarial Service.
She taught, worked as an office manager for a steel fabricating plant, was the sole worker behind the counter in a candy store, sold books in Los llanos Book Store, was secretary at a small private elementary school. Because of Jim’s jobs took them to Florida, Texas, London, England, Saudi Arabia, Mission Viejo, CA, Abingdon, P A, and back to Ohio, she worked many jobs.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by Relative L M. Sowers ’32, brothers, David Noble ’60 and Frank Samuel ’33. Survived by husband James Earnest ’60 and children, Susan, Mary Kathleen and James.
