Fred Shoemaker ’50 died Jan. 31, 2017. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S.Army. He began practicing law in 1951 and went on to become a judge in Franklin County Municipal Court and the Court of Common Pleas. Afterwards, he practiced law with Murphy, Young, and Smith; then was appointed to the Ohio Court of Claims where he served from 1987 to his retirement at age 80. He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Rosalie. He is survived by two children, including son, Fred. C. Shoemaker ’81; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson.
