Lois Abbott Yost, Class of 1952

Lois Abbott Yost ’52 died Nov. 19, 2020, a day after her 93rd birthday. Lois was born in Tampa, Florida in 1927 to the late Lloyd ’22 and Aline (Dowling) Abbott. She graduated from Otterbein College where she met her late husband Jim Yost ’51, who passed away in 2007. At Otterbein she was a member of Sigma Alpha Tau (Owls) sorority, A Cappella Choir, student government and a Junior Counselor. Until recently, she enjoyed traveling annually with Jim’s Pi Kappa Phi “Country Club” classmates from the 1950’s.
Lois taught high school English in Tampa, and led a full and happy life with her passionate love for God and his church, for family, friends, music, gardening, travel and volunteering. She especially loved playing piano for the past 50 years for Lake Magdalene United Methodist Church preschool Sunday School.
Lois is survived by her 2 children, Richard (Lisa) and Nancy (Dr. David Leach) , 3 grandchildren, Matt Yost (Victoria), Lauren and Connor Leach, and one soon-to-be great grandchild. Along with her parents, husband and son Charles, she was preceded in death by her sister Margie Abbott Denham ’52.
