All majors in our department qualify students for Otterbein’s Humanities Scholarships. With help from alumni donors and other supporters, we also offer specialized, field-specific merit-based awards and scholarships to our students. For example, in 2020, the Fotis family endowed us with $27,000 to honor their sister, a local Westerville resident and avid history buff, by establishing the Cathy “Kate” Fotis Endowed Scholarship, awarded to one incoming student per year in our department.
We also annually award the Class of 1904 Political Science Prize to an outstanding government/political science student, the Pierre Frederick & Louise M. Rosselot Memorial Award to an outstanding history and political science student, and the Lynn W. Turner Prize to one or more outstanding history student(s).
We offer a number of scholarships for students studying language. These awards recognize and celebrate academic excellence in the modern languages at Otterbein, as well as encourage students to sharpen fluency in the target language, develop deeper relationships with the people, and foster mutual understanding.
Study abroad scholarships are also available. Full-time students in our department who study abroad can qualify for the Samuel & Ida Zimmerman Spencer Study Abroad Award.
