During my experience at Williams Sonoma, I served as a personalization intern in one of the WSI Olive Branch Distribution Centers. The personalization team is centered around customizing products to the customers’ liking (sewing names on backpacks and other items, debossing leather, laser etching names into waterbottles and other cookware, and much more). Each intern was given a project to complete throughout their time with the company. My project was to design a letter sorting device for the deboss method in the company and to also work with the personalization team to design universal clamps for the sewing machines. This internship helped me to gain more experience using engineering software like CAD and Solidworks and allowed me to have real world experiences in the engineering field. I learned how to establish connections with others outside of my area in the company to obtain information and was able to put my knowledge I learned at Otterbein to use outside of the classroom.
