Attractions
You didn’t think the fastest growing city in the U.S. would be without a thriving ArtScene did you? In fact, Columbus is one of the top 20 cities for art in America!
Westerville
4th Friday
The ultimate block party, right in our backyard! With live music, food trucks, pop-up shops, and a different theme each month, our only complaint is it isn’t every week.
Alum Creek Amphitheatre
This open-air theatre is right on the edge of campus, so bring a chair or a rug, and enjoy live music and the Ohio summer alongside students, professors and Westerville locals.
Farmer’s Market
If you want fresh, local food close to hand, then Otterbein is the place. Every Saturday the Westerville Farmer’s Market is here, right on campus! With dozens of vendors and live music, you will get a choice of everything from Craft Beer Biscuits to Ohio City Pasta and Dairy Products from the Sensible Goat Farm.
If a week is too long to wait for your next farmer’s market fix, then Westerville also has a Wednesday Farmer’s Market. The only issue is it is an extra three minute walk away on North State Street.
Hanby House
Get a taste of history right here on Otterbein’s campus! The Hanby family had a long history at Otterbein, starting when Bishop Hanby co-founded Otterbein College. More importantly they were one of the leaders in The Underground Railroad.
Their house is right on campus, and is still stocked with original furniture and personal items from the family. The Hanby legacy lives on through this on-campus house turned museum.
Temperance Row
In the early 1900s Westerville became the headquarters of the Anti-Saloon League of America. Yes, that means Westerville supported Prohibition! Temperance Row is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, it’s a great place to experience some history.
Don’t worry though, Westerville does not support prohibition anymore, and to the dismay of the Anti-Saloon League, Otterbein is not a dry campus, I’ll drink to that!
Columbus
Columbus Zoo and Aquarium
Go for a walkabout in Australia, venture to the heart of Africa, or slip, slide and scream your way through Zoombezi Bay. It’s all available at the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium- one of the nation’s top zoos!
