Otterbein music alumnus Kendell Edgerton’21 has found himself in a job that allows him to educate, inspire, and lead all at once. Edgerton is a music teacher at Starling K-8 School in Columbus City Schools teaching middle school instrumental music.
Edgerton graduated from Otterbein with a degree in music education and says that Otterbein’s connections and proximity to Columbus made all the difference for him in his search for jobs and networking.
“Just by being in central Ohio I was able to talk to a lot of different music educators around the city and get a lot of connections that way, along with all of the opportunities that came with Otterbein,” Edgerton said.
Edgerton says that he loves being a guide for his students in their musical journey and seeing them light up with the joy of music.
“My favorite part of my job is seeing one of my middle school kids figure something out on their instrument and get really excited about it and come to me after and ask me questions about how they can do more research and how they can do more practice to further their musical knowledge,” Edgerton said.
While at Otterbein, Edgerton was an active member of Lambda Gamma Epsilon fraternity and served as a resident assistant for one school year. He was also very active in the Department of Music.
