Minor in Dance
The dance minor offers students the opportunity to continue advanced level training in dance throughout their college careers, while pursuing their chosen major.
Dance classes are structured to allow students to dance every day. We offer instruction in ballet, tap, modern, jazz, and musical theatre. Students are placed in the appropriate level based on experience and technique within each discipline through the audition process.
In addition to taking technique classes, two choreography classes and a class in dance history are required for the dance minor. Workshop pieces done in the “Advanced Choreography” class are presented to the department and are considered for inclusion in the annual dance concert.
All dance minors are required to audition for the annual dance concert, and are also encouraged to audition for dance roles in mainstage musicals. Extraordinarily talented and disciplined students have been given the opportunity to choreograph musicals as part of the mainstage season.
